Over the initial five years, we successfully executed a Core Investment Programme (CIP), upgrading or replacing over 65,000 lighting units. With the completion of the CIP in 2016, the partnership transitioned into a maintenance phase, which will continue until 2036. During this phase, the contract team will monitor the condition and functionality of Northamptonshire’s street lighting and signage, as well as conducting general repairs and replacements where required.
In April 2021, all borough, district, and county councils in Northamptonshire merged to form two new Unitary Authorities – West Northamptonshire and North Northamptonshire. The street lighting partnership contract is now managed by West Northamptonshire Council on behalf of the Unitary Authorities.
