What we do

Across Northamptonshire, we maintain over 60,000 streetlights, illuminated signs and bollards as well as belisha and refuge beacons.

Our dedicated team carries out frequent inspections to find defects and assess the state of our assets with all detected issues being recorded online. We also perform electrical testing and lamp replacements to minimise faults and ensure each asset is electrically and structurally safe. Our aim is to attend all routine faults within five working days and emergency faults within two hours of receiving a fault report. In addition, we are responsible for design and technical approval, ensuring our work is delivered using the latest, most efficient technology and adheres to the correct lighting standards.

Supporting both Unitary Authorities’ independent climate strategies, we have begun upgrading over 44,000 lighting units across Northamptonshire. Existing lanterns will be replaced with energy-efficient LEDs, reducing CO² emissions by an estimated 1,458 tonnes per year. The project is scheduled for completion in late 2025.

In our efforts to further reduce our energy consumption, all residential street lights are dimmed between 22.00pm – 06.00am each night.
