Our Northamptonshire street lighting contract team have been working with our Corporate Charity Partner, Groundwork, to provide young people with employment opportunities.
Groundwork, who transform lives in the UK’s most disadvantaged communities, support Green Patch, a flagship community garden project in Kettering that provides local young people from challenging backgrounds with the opportunity to learn skills that will help their transition into adult life.
Through My Contribution – our employee-led change programme – an ideas was raised to ringfence some of our emerging talent vacancies for young people from Green Patch, providing them with valuable work experience and life skills for the future.
​​After identifying suitable candidates, a group of four young people joined our Northamptonshire street lighting contract for a four-week work experience programme.
Through the programme they learned about our business, developed skills as they helped deliver work activities and were support by our mentoring and buddy system.
